GenAI Clinic
Decision Support and Intelligence
This exercise introduces participants to how GenAI can support complex business decisions by surfacing patterns, generating insights, and exposing assumptions. Leaders will explore how to trust, challenge, and build upon AI-generated advice in a real decision-making context.
Learning Objectives
  • Learn how to use GenAI for scenario exploration and risk analysis
  • Practice interpreting and refining AI-generated advice
  • Reflect on AI's strengths and limitations in decision-making
  • Build confidence in human-AI decision interaction
Tools Required
GenAI Tool
ChatGPT or equivalent GenAI tool with access to structured reasoning and scenario exploration
Decision Scenario
A real or simulated business decision (e.g., pricing strategy, hiring dilemma, investment priority)
Exercise Instructions: Select a Decision Scenario
Time: 5 minutes
Choose a real or relevant business decision facing your team. Examples:
Market Expansion
Should we expand into a new market?
Budget Prioritization
How do we prioritize budget cuts?
Resource Allocation
Should we hire for role X or outsource it?
Exercise Instructions: Explore with AI via Flipped Interaction
Time: 15 minutes
You are a decision support advisor. I'm considering the following decision: [describe your dilemma]. Please guide me using flipped interaction. Ask me one question at a time to clarify the situation, identify my options, surface risks, and eventually reach a recommendation. Wait for my reply before continuing.
The AI should then guide you by asking one question at a time to:
  • Clarify the context
  • Identify your criteria or constraints
  • Explore options and trade-offs
  • Surface risks and consequences
You may type "Show summary" at any time to see a running summary of the advice and analysis so far.
Once you've answered 4–5 questions, ask the AI: "What is your overall advice? What assumptions are you making?"
Exercise Instructions: Compare Judgement
Time: 10 minutes
Reflect on how the AI's input compared to your intuition or team consensus:
Alignment
What matched your thinking?
Challenge
What challenged your assumptions?
Reconsideration
Would you make a different decision now?
Exercise Instructions: Group Debrief (Optional)
Time: 10–15 minutes
  • Share one insight or surprise per participant
  • Discuss: In what types of decisions would you invite AI input in the future?
Reflection Questions
Value Assessment
What value did the AI add to your thinking?
Limitation Analysis
Where was its advice incomplete or off-base?
Integration Insights
What does this say about how to combine human and machine judgment?
Cultural Considerations
Would your leadership culture need to change to trust this process?
